Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2026
Useful Editions is operated by ETLA Holdings, LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company ("Useful Editions," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you visit this website, purchase a digital product, download purchased files, or contact us.
Scope
This policy applies to the Useful Editions website and our direct-sale digital products. It does not govern third-party websites or services, including Stripe-hosted Checkout, which maintain their own privacy practices. Our products are intended for United States residents who are at least 18 years old.
Information we collect
- Purchase and contact information: the email address used at checkout, the product purchased, purchase and fulfillment status, transaction timestamps, and identifiers associated with the Stripe Checkout Session and payment.
- Payment and tax information handled by Stripe: Stripe may collect your name, billing address, payment details, and location information needed to process payment and calculate applicable tax. We do not store full payment-card numbers or card security codes.
- Download information: a secure download-token identifier, its expiration time, and information needed to confirm that a download is authorized. Secure token URLs are excluded from our Nginx access logs.
- Technical and security information: IP address, browser or device information, request timestamps, referring page, and server or security logs generated when the site is accessed.
- Analytics and advertising event information: page views, product-page views, checkout-started events, purchase-completed events, button-click events, product identifiers, order value, currency, referring page, approximate device or browser information, and similar event data collected through analytics or advertising tools when those tools are enabled.
- Optional offer and survey information: research votes, interest and price responses, optional feedback, an email address and explicit consent for launch updates or occasional offers; campaign parameters, referring page, page URL, anonymous session identifier, Meta click identifier when available, and whether an offer or checkout button was used. We do not ask for sensitive financial, health, or similar information in this survey.
- Communications: information you include when requesting support, a refund, or assistance with a privacy request.
Sources of information
We receive information directly from you, automatically from your browser and our server infrastructure, and from service providers such as Stripe when they confirm a completed payment.
How we use information
- Process and verify purchases, calculate tax, and provide secure downloads.
- Send receipts, fulfillment messages, and customer-support communications.
- Maintain transaction, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, and fulfillment records.
- Protect the website, investigate abuse, enforce our terms, and resolve disputes.
- Measure website performance, understand which pages and products visitors use, and evaluate advertising performance.
- Understand optional purchase-decision feedback and improve product pages, previews, and offers.
- Deliver, measure, and improve advertising for Useful Editions products, including ads shown on Meta platforms.
- Comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Cookies, local storage, and analytics
We may use analytics and advertising technologies, including Meta Pixel and Google Analytics when enabled, to understand site activity, measure advertising performance, and improve our product pages. These tools may use cookies, pixels, scripts, local storage, device identifiers, or similar technologies. The Meta Pixel may help us measure events such as PageView, ViewContent, InitiateCheckout, Purchase, and custom button-click events.
If you allow analytics, we may also use Meta's Conversions API to send server-side event data for product-page views, checkout starts, and purchases. Server-side events may include event name, event time, event ID, event source URL, action source, product identifier, purchase value and currency for purchases, client IP address, client user agent, Meta browser identifiers when available, and hashed email or hashed phone when available after checkout. IP address and user agent are sent to Meta without hashing because those fields are used for event matching.
We do not intentionally send full payment-card details, downloadable files, secure download-token URLs, Stripe Checkout Session IDs as page URLs, or the contents of customer support messages to Meta or Google through these analytics events. Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies on its hosted Checkout pages under its own privacy policy. If phone collection is enabled in Stripe Checkout, we may use the phone number only for payment/order administration and privacy-disclosed analytics matching.
We only load nonessential analytics and advertising scripts after you allow them for this browser. We also attempt to honor a browser Do Not Track setting where available. This browser-level preference does not control Stripe, Meta, Google, your browser settings, or privacy choices you make directly with those third parties.

This setting is stored in local storage on this browser. Clearing site data or using another browser may reset it.
How we disclose information
We disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary to the following recipients:
- Stripe, for payment processing, fraud prevention, and Stripe Tax.
- Mailgun, for transactional purchase and download email.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers, for application hosting, networking, backups, and security.
- Meta, for advertising measurement and ad-performance reporting when Meta Pixel is enabled.
- Google, for analytics measurement when Google Analytics is enabled.
- Professional advisers, such as accountants, attorneys, or insurers, when reasonably necessary.
- Government or legal recipients, when required by law or necessary to protect legal rights and safety.
- A successor organization, in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business.
Advertising choices; no sale for money
We do not sell personal information for money. When Meta Pixel or similar advertising tools are enabled, some privacy laws may treat our disclosure of online identifiers or event information to advertising platforms as a "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can use the browser-level analytics opt-out above or contact us to make a privacy request.
You may also manage advertising choices directly through third parties, such as Meta Privacy Center, Meta's Privacy Policy, or your browser/device settings. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18.
Retention
- Order, payment-reference, tax, and fulfillment records are retained for up to seven years.
- Download links expire after seven days; associated entitlement records may remain with the order record for up to seven years.
- Security and webhook-processing records are retained for up to two years unless needed longer for an investigation or legal claim.
- Support and privacy-request correspondence is generally retained for up to two years.
- Exit-offer leads, research votes and feedback, and opted-in launch or offer-email records are generally retained for up to two years, unless deleted earlier or linked to a transaction requiring longer retention.
- Backups may retain information until they are overwritten through our normal backup-rotation process.
We may retain information longer where required by law or reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal claims.
Your privacy choices
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information we maintain about you. You may also ask for information about how it has been used or disclosed. We will honor requests as required by applicable law and may offer the same choices voluntarily when reasonably possible.
To protect customers, we may need to verify a request using information connected to the purchase. We may retain information that is required for tax or accounting obligations, completion of the transaction, fraud prevention, security, or legal claims. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Data security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including restricted server access, private file storage, expiring download links, encrypted HTTPS connections, and limited database access. No security measure or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The site and products are not directed to children, and purchases are limited to people age 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information to us.
United States processing
The site is operated from and intended for the United States. Personal information is processed and stored in the United States, where privacy protections may differ from those in other countries.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, providers, or legal obligations. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required.
